Vice President Joseph Biden's Chart and Rise to Power?

As I look at the reported time and the chart cast for his time and place of birth, confidence is low that the time is correct. It has been report that is was a time uncertain and from memory. So rectification is needed to adjust the chart to align with what we know of Mr. Biden. I chose 7:10 A.M. as opposed to the 8:30 A.M. that has been reported for November 20, 1942. Could war time have caused confusion?





We know that Mr. Biden struggle with stuttering as a child with no Mercury retrograde we look to where Mercury is in the chart and we find that it is near the ascendant but in the 12th house in the reported time chart so I have moved it closer to the Ascendant and in the first house. As we do this we see that the North Node conjuncts the Mid-heaven in the 10th house at 29 Leo and on the fixed star of Regulus or the “royal star”. His family moved to Delaware when he was about 10 or 11 years old and we find from the rectified chart that when we progress the ascendant it conjuncts the Sun and Venus. So change in status is indicated and this certainly is a turning point for Mr. Biden he would later represent Delaware as a U.S. Senator.

We also see his marriage to his first wife would occur when the progressed descendant would have conjunct his natal Uranus and then subsequent death of his spouse when the descendant would have conjunct his natal Saturn (exactly partile on the day of the tragedy!) along with other factors of course. Saturn is beginning to conjunct the 8th house cusp this is very depressing. The transiting Moon is conjunct natal Uranus indicating shock and emotional disruption. Transiting Mars (potential violent tragedy) is also conjunct natal Mercury which rules the 8th house (death of others) of the rectified chart!

Since the rectified chart seems to work, can we find anything that would suggest Mr. Biden might be thrust into higher office in November? Around November 11th through 15th there are quite a few interesting thing occurring in his new chart. The first thing that stand out is transiting Saturn is conjunct his secondary progressed Moon and his natal Neptune at 1 Libra. Solar Arc Jupiter is on degree way at 2 Libra. All of these are in the 11th house. This combination could mean the call to duty to calm a disillusioned public and reassure U.S. Allies.

The above combination trines his secondary progressed Mercury which is inconjunct the midheaven. Clearly fast moving events cause a difficult adjustment in his public status. The transiting Sun will conjunct his natal Mercury around this time perhaps creating a signal for events to occur. We saw that Mercury was affected at the time of the death of his first wife and daughter by Mars to it is activated again in the chart. Secondary progressed Mercury trines natal Uranus. This is creating a grand trine indicating a sudden and fast moving change in identity.

November is clearly a time of fast moving intense achievement and change. Hopefully it is just a great personal time in his life and not one rooted in national tragedy.

A Dangerous Time

Well summer has ended and Pluto has turned direct. Saturn and Uranus have gone to opposition and will return on and off until next year. Soon the beginning of Fall will arrive on the 22nd and we are in for a difficult time. I have been looking closely at President Obama's chart. Public rancor has increased and I have feared for Mr. Obama's safety. This leads me to examine his chart. Since we have an accurate birth time for him (contrary to what some might say) we can have some confidence in the forecast.

I see a grave threat building so caution and vigilance is needed for those who protect our president. Thankfully, we have the best protection service in the world in the U.S. Secret Service so I am hopeful any problem will be neutralized quickly and effectively.

But here is what I see developing in the chart: From November the 8th to November 21st, transiting Pluto will go opposite Mr. Obama's natal Venus with transiting Saturn squaring this opposition. His natal Venus rules his 4th House of endings and Pluto indicates transformation and forced change. Saturn rule his first house of the physical body and Saturn is transiting the 8th house of death. Saturn is also stressing the progressed Sun which rules the house open enemies the 7th. Furthermore Saturn is conjunct his progressed IC again endings are emphasized. The Nodes are active as well the North Node is active over Natal Saturn and Progressed Saturn along with the Natal North Node progressed to near partile conjunction with Natal Uranus. These suggest a time of personal destiny being fulfilled or what you were born to do. Mars will conjunct his natal Sun on November 11th and 12th these are critical days -- it suggests force or anger at this critical time. Could it be someone’s temper will boiled over to the point that they feel like they must act?

While I will not go as far as predicting the worse I will say caution is warranted. Of course this could also translate into a failure of Health Care Reform on a less critical level. Neither prospect seems favorable in November.

So can we glean any insight from Vice President Biden chart? More on that to come...

Eclipse Hoopla

Well much has been said about the one solar and two lunar eclipse within a months time. While in a mundane sense these eclipses signal change for the world as a whole, on a personal level they are not quite as significant as an individual would expect. Unless an eclipse (especially solar) were to happen directly on a planet in your natal or perhaps your progressed chart for that time, its significance is only minor. So if you are a Cancer with a planet at 15/16 degrees or (to a lesser extent) a planet square or opposite at 15/16 degrees Aries, Libra, or Capricorn don't sweat the solar eclipse from July 7. If you do use the doorway of the eclipse to gain insight into the house and sign where it occurs.

Uranus, Defender of Gay Rights and Same Sex Marriage

Back in 2003 after the Lawrence v. Texas case was decided I noticed that Uranus had moved into a new sign, which it is still in, that of Pisces. The case was argued before the Supreme Court on March 26, 2003 Uranus had just moved to 0 degrees Pisces on March 11. The decision to invalidate all sodomy laws in the U.S. was handed down on June 26, 2003 just after Uranus had turned retrograde. Well, what uproar among conservatives after that decision!

Uranus is the planet whose symbol is freedom and equality. It was discovered March 31, 1781 at the time between the American and French Revolutions. How appropriate! So it is natural that Pisces ruling confined spaces (think closet) and the oppressed spirit should be given freedom to soar.

As with other civil rights movement from women’s suffrage to the long struggle of African Americans for full equality, Uranus has been front and center in its movement through the signs. Uranus moved into Pisces on April 1, 1919 just before the State began voting to ratify the 14th Amendment giving women the right to vote. The ratification was completed on August 18, 1920. And of course the last state to ratify the Amendment was Mississippi in 1984.

Interestingly Uranus was in the last degrees of Gemini before going into Cancer when on July 26, 1948 Executive Order 9981 eliminated racial discrimination in the U.S. military. Uranus moved through Cancer (the traditional symbolic sign of the African peoples) during the great strides in legal fights of the Civil Rights movement (Brown v. Board of Education and calls for civil rights legislation). The adverse reaction started when Uranus moved into Leo in 1956 (Little Rock) but turned around again when it entered Virgo in 1962 about a year before the beginning of debate that lead to the passage of the Civil Rights Act of 1964.

So as we have seen there is always a period of leaps in civil rights advancement that Uranus sparks followed by a backlash that the revolution is getting out of hand. The California referendum that is sure to come in November 2010 will have Uranus retrograde in the final degrees of Pisces so I expect to see a win for Marriage Equality in California before Uranus finally goes into Aries in 2011. This should cause quite a dust up in the years Uranus is in Aries with a vigorous fight over Supreme Court Justices. But Gay Rights and Same Sex Marriage will get to full equality after Uranus travels through Aries after the backlash from the hold out states (think South) until it enters Taurus in May 2018. I predict full marriage equality will be handed down by the Supreme Court that June!

The Ascendant

The Ascendant is the beginning of the horoscope chart -- the rising sign as it is commonly know. This is were the spirit enters the physical body (the breath of life if you will) and we begin life's journey. If a planet is located in the First house that has significance as to the condition of one's physical self. If the planet is near the Ascendant at birth it could mean that shortly after you were born some physical harm or illness happened to you. But it could mean something quite different.

As an example I had a client come to me and she insisted her exact time of birth was correct. As I began the consultation I always try to establish past connections to verify the chart. She had Mars in the first house and I asked her if she had experienced anything physically at the age of 5 months or 5 years that affected her physical being. She stated the she had been adopted at this point. Immediately stopped and declared that the birth time she gave me was incorrect! I said her time was perhaps twenty minutes off. Because Jupiter was located in the 12th house I told her that Jupiter should be either right on the angle or shortly before in the First House.

Jupiter's symbolism rules legal matters and in the first house the physical body. A few days later she called me in sweat. She had gone to renew her driver's licences and took her birth certificate and low and behold her time was off by 17 minutes. That put her Jupiter one half minute of arc from her ascendant!

Sometimes the heavens just have it right even if we don't!

Astrology of Swine Flu

I’ve been looking into flu pandemics and astrologic combinations since the recent flu outbreak was announced. As far back as 1580 when the first flu pandemic was recognized Saturn and Uranus have been in contact in most cases. Saturn delights in the 12th and 6th houses (Pisces and Virgo by sign) so confinement and disease/public health are located in those houses/signs. Uranus ruler of Aquarius involves humanity and group interaction and some say influenza specifically -- not to mention surprise epidemics.

So that said, in 1829 before the pandemic of 1830-33 Saturn was in Leo opposite Uranus at 10 Aquarius. During the Hong Kong Flu outbreak in July of 1968 Saturn at 25 Aries was inconjunct Uranus at 25 Virgo. The Swine Flu scare of 1976 we had Saturn at 3 Leo squaring Uranus at 3 Scorpio. But the more important and deadly pandemic was in 1918 when in October, Saturn was at 24 Leo opposite Uranus at 24 Leo. The last week of October 1918 saw the peak in deaths in several major cities around the world.

Well, what is the potential for this Swine Flu? Interestingly enough Saturn at 20 Virgo was opposite Uranus at 20 Pisces in February of this year. The Mexican health authorities have pinpointed the initial outbreak to this February. Unfortunately these two planet go into opposition one more time in September at 24Virgo/24 Pisces at sensitive degrees for epidemics and an echo of the 1918 outbreak.

Will it be as bad as 1918? Probably not in terms of percentages but there will be a death toll that might approach 1918. I think the U.S. is in good shape. Uranus rules invention and we have come a long way in preventing disease and creating new treatments. There are similarities between this flu and the 1918 flu. I fear we will know soon enough.

Pakistan: Secular or Sharia?

I’ve taken the time to look more closely at the Pakistan national chart. As I mention in the March 24, 2009 blog, I was concerned about this Fall that something could potentially happen with Pakistan or Iran/Israel or both. Here’s why I think Pakistan could pose a potential threat:

First, Pluto has been transiting opposite Mars which is located on the Midheaven. This will undermine the current government and with Mars transiting it’s natal position August 26th there could be a triggering event just prior to or on that date which might get the ball rolling toward a coup.

Second Progressed Saturn is on the natal Sun. The Sun rules help and cooperation from other foreign countries. This has been the one area that Pakistan could rely but with Saturn making a progress conjunction the help may not come quick enough or forcefully enough to matter.

Third, transiting Uranus has been traveling through Pakistan’s 6th house the house of the common people and transiting near the Vertex. Expect the unexpected as thing could spiral out of control.

Fourth, the progressed Midheaven moves to a new sign Virgo at 0 degrees. This is quite a shock to the governmental order signaling a need to pay attention to the health and well being of the people or expect the consequences of inaction.

I would expect violence to erupt between the middle of August and the middle of September. In mid-September Pluto goes direct on 9-11 that’s more than a little disconcerting. Then on October 26th Transiting Saturn crosses over the Ascendant this could signal the beginning of a restrictive government under Sharia law.

Let’s hope none of this occurs or is thwarted, Pakistan possesses WMDs and allowing radicals to spread this destruction to other parts of the world would be unthinkable not to mention nearly impossible for the U.S. and it’s allies to carry out it’s mission in Afghanistan effectively.
